How HeatCoolCheck Works, and How It Is Paid
HeatCoolCheck connects homeowners in Vineland, NJ and the ZIP codes around it with independent heating and cooling contractors.
This site is not a heating and cooling company. It employs no technicians, holds no contractor license, and repairs, installs and replaces nothing. The number on these pages reaches an independent contractor who does all of that.
How it is paid. We may receive compensation when a call placed from this site connects to a contractor and lasts past a short minimum. That is the entire business model. It is why these pages exist, and you are entitled to know it before you dial.
You never pay this site. There is no fee, no membership, no listing charge and no charge for being connected. Whatever a contractor charges for a visit or for the work is settled between you and that contractor, and it is the same figure whether or not you arrived through these pages.
Nothing here is warranted. This site does not warrant or guarantee any work performed. It cannot: it does not see the system, it sends nobody, and it holds no license to stand behind. Verifying that a hired contractor furnishes the license and insurance the job requires is the homeowner's part, and it belongs before the work starts rather than after. Ask for the license number and check it with the state board — a licensed contractor does not mind being asked.
Why there are no prices here. Every contractor sets their own, and what a job costs depends on the system, the fault and the house. A figure published on a website would be a guess about somebody else's business, and a reader would repeat it on the phone to someone who never agreed to it. The contractor quotes the work after seeing it.
What happens when you call
The number routes to a contractor taking calls in the area at that moment. A person answers, asks what the system is doing, and either arranges a visit or says the ZIP code is outside the area covered that day.
Four things make that conversation shorter:
- The age of the system — the year it was installed, if the label inside the cabinet still says
- What it is doing, in plain words: will not start, runs but does not heat, short-cycles, makes a noise it did not make last week
- What the thermostat reads, and what it is set to
- The address, and whether the system is a gas furnace, an air conditioner or a heat pump
Calls may be recorded. What that means in practice is set out in the privacy policy, and the terms the site is offered on are in the terms of use.
Who these pages are written for
Someone with a gas furnace that will not light in a Cumberland County January, or an air conditioner that runs all afternoon and does not cool when the July dew point sits near 66°F. Housing across this ZIP ring was built anywhere from the 1940s to the 1980s, which means systems on their first replacement and systems on their fourth are both common here.
The pages say what usually causes the symptom and what a technician checks first. Not to replace the visit — a page cannot see your system — but because a reader who knows the vocabulary has a better conversation with the person who can.
